Five channels, checked live on 9 October 2026. Every line traces to a source captioned on the page.
| Channel | 6S Electrical & Solar | Everyday Sparky | McSweeney Electrical | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google rankings 6 money searches | Page one on 0 of 6 | Page one on 2 of 6 | Page one on 1 of 6 | Two local firms share the general searches, and the emergency terms are bought by after-hours services. |
| Google Ads Transparency Centre, AU | 0 ads on record | 4 ads on record | 8 ads on record | The paid slots are held by 24 hour services, not by the local firms you would call a competitor. |
| Meta Ads Ad Library, active now | ~15,000 results | ~10 results | No ads found | Between them the two electricians ranking above you run twelve ads on the Google network. Neither shows a verifiable Meta ad. |
| Landing page Where the click lands | No content on the page at all | No form, a 1300 number in the header and a GET IN TOUCH button | No form, seven phone links | Your home page currently returns no content at all: the theme loads and the footer prints, and there is nothing else on the page. |
| Reputation Google rating (reviews) | 5.0 (7 reviews) | 4.9 (341 reviews) | 5.0 (95 reviews) | Everyday Sparky carries 4.9 from 314 reviews. A review profile is the one asset a homeowner checks before they ring. |
Everyday Sparky holds the top of the electrician Melbourne search and runs four ads, and McSweeney Electrical sits second on the head term and runs eight. Their offers are a zero callout fee and a transparent pricing promise, and Everyday Sparky carries 4.9 from 314 reviews. You rank on none of the six searches, and your home page returns no content at all.
Positions read live from Google Australia on 9 October 2026, not estimated.
| Search term | Searches / mo | 6S Electrical & Solar | Everyday Sparky | McSweeney Electrical |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| electrician melbourne | High est. | Not in top 10 | #1 | #2 |
| emergency electrician melbourne | High est. | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 |
| electrical services melbourne | Medium est. | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 |
| solar installer melbourne | High est. | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 |
| switchboard upgrade melbourne | Medium est. | Not in top 10 | #3 | Not in top 10 |
| commercial electrician melbourne | Medium est. | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 | Not in top 10 |
The switchboard term is held by a three page website and a business with no brand presence, and the commercial term is held by a page built on a free web builder. Those are not strong positions, they are simply unclaimed. The head term is the harder fight and it is currently won by a local firm with 1,513 words and five phone numbers on the page.
The chain, with every assumption written down. Deliberately conservative.
The six searches in this report at an example volume a city this size supports. An example, not a measured figure.
The clicks you do not get today, once those pages sit around position three, rounded down.
Enquiries at 5% of those visits, rounded down.
Enquiries, not booked jobs. What an electrical job is worth is your number, not mine.
Halve the example volume and it is still three jobs a month that never reach you. The searches happen whether or not you rank. Today they ring whoever is on page one.
Estimates, not promises. Each assumption is deliberately conservative so the number holds up.
Build one page per job type the way the search describes it, put the licence and the service area in the text rather than an image, and take the switchboard and commercial terms first because the pages holding them are thin.
| Advertiser | Ads on record | Last ran | Headline seen | Lands on | Offer on the page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Everyday Sparky | 4 | Active now | Local Electrician in Melbourne | everydaysparky.com.au | 4.9 from 314 reviews, with Call and Directions buttons on the ad |
| McSweeney Electrical | 8 | Active now | Pay Zero Call Out Fees | mcsweeneyelectrical.com.au | 100% of callout fees, same day test and tag, smoke alarm compliance |
| 6S Electrical & Solar | 0 | Nothing on record | No ad on record | 6selectrical.com.au | No ad on record, and no page for an ad to land on |
This is the clearest gap in the report. Everyday Sparky runs four ads and McSweeney runs eight, and their offers are blunt: a zero callout fee promise, transparent pricing, same day test and tag. Between them they are also buying the emergency and solar terms through the auction. You run nothing, and at the moment an ad would have nowhere to land.
Neither of the two local firms ranking above you runs an enquiry form. Everyday Sparky works from five phone links and 1,513 words, McSweeney from seven phone links. Whatever your site asks for after hours is a decision you still get to make, and it is the one part of this page the competition has not built.
The feed is untouched in this category, and you are the only one with a blank page to fix first
The Meta searches for both electricians return unrelated advertisers, so nobody here is buying attention on the feed. That is an opening, but it is worth nothing until the website answers a visitor.
A photo of the van and the uniform on a finished job does more than a stock image of a switchboard. It is the same proof a homeowner wants before they let someone into the house.
Why this matters: a stronger headline and hook lifts click-through. Higher click-through lowers what Meta charges per click. Cheaper clicks mean more visits from the same budget, and more visits mean more enquiries. Nothing on the feed yet, and the two firms with ads are not there either. Fix the site first, then take it.
One is held by a three page site, the other by a page on a free web builder. Both are beatable with a proper service page, and both attract job work rather than quote shoppers.
The searches that convert are switchboard upgrade, solar and emergency. A single services page cannot rank for all of them; one page per job can.
The paid slots on the emergency and solar terms are held by after-hours services, and the two firms ranking above you offer no form at all. A clear after-hours path is a position nobody has taken.
Search engines read text, not the badges in your header. Licence number, service suburbs and job photos belong in the words on the page.
Both electricians above you are absent from the feed, and electrical work is bought on trust. A short video of a job and a photo of the team is the cheapest proof you can put in front of a local homeowner.
If you want the same treatment applied to the whole funnel, the next step is a working session. I will take this report apart line by line, show you where the enquiries are leaking and what the first 90 days look like.
Book a time with DeanAt 18 I started a corporate events company doing photo booths, DJing and photography. I could not afford an agency, so I taught myself web development, Meta Ads, Google Ads and SEO off YouTube, got myself to number one on Google, and took it to roughly $300,000.
Everything in this report I can read because I have spent my own money on the exact channels it covers. What follows is not theory. It is what I would fix first.
